National Bourbon day is June 14th every year, Go to Garrison Brothers Distillery, for Bourbon in Texas!
Garrison Brothers Distillery was my first Bourbon Distillery I have been too. It wasn’t even in Kentucky, like most people think bourbon should be made. So while bourbon is plentiful in Kentucky, there is great Bourbon in Texas at Garrison Brothers Distillery.
Dan, the founder of Garrison Brothers Distillery, was resilient in making Bourbon in Texas and having the first Legal Whiskey Distillery in Texas.
But Garrison Brothers, isn’t whiskey, it is Bourbon. To make their bourbon they have to follow a set of regulations to get their Bourbon up to standards and be served with the best bourbon there is.
Go to Garrison Brothers Distillery
The location was deceiving, technically it is located in Texas Wine Country. So finding a beautiful Bourbon Distillery was a refreshing surprise.
Located about a 1 and 20 minutes from Austin, Texas, the distillery is located in a secluded area with beautiful views.
Garrison Brothers Distillery made their surrounding area an experience, not just a place to come.
Bean bags and jenga are set up for yard fun entertainment. Fire pit with chairs surrounding make for a perfect evening while sipping on Garrison Brothers Bourbon. Flights available for tasting in the main room. My favorite, peach tea, mixers to enjoy a cup of peach tea bourbon. There was so much to do and no surprise when I saw party buses pulling up for an evening of fun.
There is also a building up by the distillery for work conferences and weddings. Stunning place, with a huge bar for more bourbon.
The tour portion was my favorite. There is so much history with the start up of this company. Dan, the founder, as mentioned before, worked so hard to be the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas. He wants people to not just think of Kentucky when they think of Bourbon. He is changing the times.
From the gift shop at the entrance, you will take a ride up the hill to the distillery. From there staff will take you on a historical story throughout the distillery. Don’t worry, bourbon is involved and so many smells.
Finally, at the end of the tour, staff takes you to the bar area where everyone is taught how to actually drink bourbon and gets to enjoy their own glass full.
Wednesday-Sunday they offer 4 tours (10-4pm), to show off the distillery. Able to schedule beforehand, which is recommended for weekends. Price is $10 on weekdays and Sunday and $20 on Saturday.
Garrison Brothers Distillery won’t disappoint.
Garrison Brothers Distillery is a great week night or weekend activity. Families, friends or by yourself, there is so much for you to do and be entertained by. While in Texas: Go to Garrison Brothers Distillery.
