Getting from Charles de Gaulle airport to Orly is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. The fastest and cheapest way to get there is by train and the special metro Orlyval. We buy a ticket for the RER train (10 euros) and go to the RER Antony stop. There we transfer to Orlyval, having previously bought a special ticket for 9.30 euros

Transit Schengen visa

Required in three cases:

  • If there are two transplants (or more) in the Schengen countries
  • If during a transfer you need to go to another terminal.
  • If there is no transit zone at the airport where the transfer is to be made.

That is, if you fly from Russia, Ukraine to America, Brazil with a transfer in Paris and do not go beyond the same terminal, you do not need a visa!

How to apply for a Schengen visa, read this article .

Airport history

In the early 60s of the twentieth century. for the two Paris airfields of Orly and Le Bourget, the prospect of a transport collapse began to emerge more and more clearly. According to calculations, every 5 years there was a doubling of passenger traffic, and with such a number of people, the existing airport terminals could no longer cope. In order to prevent a looming crisis in the summer of 1964, a decision was made to build a new Paris Nord airfield.

For him, a place was determined in the Roissy-en-France region, away from settlements, where there was enough free land. It was only necessary to buy it from the owners of several farms. However, the decision to build the airport was perceived by the public ambiguously and persistent debate about its feasibility continued until 1972. The problem was finally resolved after the payment of appropriate compensation to the parties affected during the construction of the airport.

The opening of the new main air gates of Paris and all of France took place in the presence of the country’s Prime Minister P. Messmer in 1974.

Over the course of its forty-year history, the infrastructure of Charles de Gaulle Airport has undergone many changes, but continues to improve today in the spirit of the times. Only one thing remains unchanged – the successful combination of economic efficiency with maximum comfort for passengers.
